Are all ‘Big Four’ sports leagues/teams working together?

Here is a great article from the fix is in about how all the sports teams work together.  It is quite in depth and really does prove some points.

The Undeniable Truth as it Relates to Professional Sports

Doing what it is I do, I find myself in many arguments concerning the true nature of professional sports. Perhaps you find yourself in similar situations as well. If that’s the case — or if you think there is no possible way the professional sports leagues could manipulate, script or outright rig the results of one of their own games — then the following five facts are for you.

1.  The “Big Four” professional sports leagues – the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), National Basketball Association (NBA), and National Hockey League (NHL) – possess drafts, anti-trust exemptions and revenue sharing. If the teams within these leagues were truly independent entities, none of this would exist as its flies in the face of the free market companies they purport to be.

Football NFL
Football teams are all working together to fix the games. Here is the proof.

The NFL shares 70 to 75 percent of its $10+ billion-a-year income including television/broadcast/internet rights and licensing. Ticket sales are split 66 percent for the home team and the other 34 percent shared equally among all franchises. Only luxury boxes sales (which explains the “need” for new stadiums), local advertising & sponsorships, and official pro shop sales are not shared. No other league shares as much of its income as the NFL.

While also sharing its national TV & internet income, the NBA agreed to a new revenue sharing plan which began with the 2013-14 season. The radical new change in this plan will be that all teams will put 50 percent of its total revenue (minus a few allowable expenses) into a pool. After averaging the total contributed by all teams as well as every team’s total payroll, the lowest contributing teams will be able to take out their “fair” share. This will redistribute approximately $140 million within the NBA each season. The most a team could receive under this plan is $16 million. There are limits in place to protect the NBA’s highest revenue teams — including the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Orlando Magic — as prior to the 2011-12 lockout, reportedly only 10 NBA teams were profitable, earning a combined $150 million in the 2010-11 season.

NHL - Ice hockey - do they fix the games outcomes.
NHL – Ice hockey – do they fix the games outcomes.

The NHL was the last league to implement a revenue sharing plan. The one it currently possesses is extremely complex. The gist of it is the top 10 money-making teams contribute to a pool from which the bottom 15 teams can collect; however, certain guidelines and benchmarks must first be met before any money can be received. Also, teams in markets with more than 2.5 million television households do not qualify for assistance in this program, meaning the New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks, Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, Anaheim Ducks, and San Jose Sharks can only contribute, not receive.

MLB | Baseball games.
MLB | Baseball games.

Major League Baseball’s plan originally saw each team contribute 31 percent of its local revenue into a pot which was then divided equally amongst the franchises. At the same time, lower-revenue generating teams were granted a larger proportional share of the league’s national TV deal. However, MLB’s plan recently changed as well, if only slightly, to monitor what teams are doing with that revenue-sharing money they receive — meaning it must go towards “improving” the team. Supposedly by 2016, 15 teams will not be eligible for any of this money: New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Anaheim Angels, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves, Washington Nationals, Toronto Blue Jays, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s.

Just so you’re aware, these four leagues generated $21.6 billion in revenue in 2009-10. Of that, $9.7 billion went to their respective athletes. As of 2014, the four leagues’ revenue topped $25 billion.

Sports is just a business.
Sports is just a part of the entertainment business.

2.  While we call these leagues “sports,” they are in fact businesses. Their business is entertainment. The NFL, for one, has actually argued this fact before the Supreme Court as recently as 2010. Being “entertainment,” the leagues are legally entitled to do what is needed to entertain their audience, such as the creation and promotion of certain “storylines.” Despite arguments to the contrary, this makes the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL on par with Roller Derby and Professional Wrestling.

3.  The ticket you purchase to a sporting event reflects this notion of sports being simply entertainment. The “Spygate” lawsuit proves this. In this lawsuit, a New York Jets fan sued the New England Patriots for illegally (by NFL rules) videotaping their opponents’ coaching signals. The lawsuit asked for the Jets ticket holders’ money back in 10 years worth of games — the duration of the Patriots “cheating” via this videotaping.

While you can read the U.S. Appeals Court’s complete ruling in this case here, Senior Judge Robert E. Cowen’s main conclusion was this: “At best, he [Carl Mayer, the plaintive] possessed nothing more than a contractual right to a seat from which to watch an NFL game between the Jets and the Patriots, and this right was clearly honored….Mayer possessed either a license or, at best, a contractual right to enter Giants Stadium and to have a seat from which to watch a professional football game. In the clear language of the ticket stub, ‘[t]his ticket only grants entry into the stadium and a spectator seat for the specified NFL game.’ Mayer actually was allowed to enter the stadium and witnessed the ‘specified NFL game[s]’ between the Jets and Patriots. He thereby suffered no cognizable injury to a legally protected right or interest.”

Cowen concluded, “We do not condone the conduct on the part of the Patriots and the team’s head coach, and we likewise refrain from assessing whether the NFL’s sanctions (and its alleged destruction of the videotapes themselves) were otherwise appropriate. We further recognize that professional football, like other professional sports, is a multi-billion dollar business. In turn, ticket-holders and other fans may have legitimate issues with the manner in which they are treated….Significantly, our ruling also does not leave Mayer and other ticket-holders without any recourse. Instead, fans could speak out against the Patriots, their coach, and the NFL itself. In fact, they could even go so far as to refuse to purchase tickets or NFL-related merchandise….However, the one thing they cannot do is bring a legal action in a court of law. [emphasis in original].”

If that is the best protection a ticket provides a fan, do you honestly believe watching a game on television grants one more legal protection?

4.  There is no law preventing a league from fixing its own contest. The two closest federal laws on the books are these:

The “Quiz Show” law which was passed after it was revealed that television networks had been fixing the outcome of nationally televised game shows including Twenty-One and the $64,000 Challenge. The law reads: “(a) Influencing, prearranging, or predetermining outcome
It shall be unlawful for any person, with intent to deceive the listening or viewing public—

(1) To supply to any contestant in a purportedly bona fide contest of intellectual knowledge or intellectual skill any special and secret assistance whereby the outcome of such contest will be in whole or in part prearranged or predetermined.

(2) By means of persuasion, bribery, intimidation, or otherwise, to induce or cause any contestant in a purportedly bona fide contest of intellectual knowledge or intellectual skill to refrain in any manner from using or displaying his knowledge or skill in such contest, whereby the outcome thereof will be in whole or in part prearranged or predetermined.

(3) To engage in any artifice or scheme for the purpose of prearranging or predetermining in whole or in part the outcome of a purportedly bona fide contest of intellectual knowledge, intellectual skill, or chance.

(4) To produce or participate in the production for broadcasting of, to broadcast or participate in the broadcasting of, to offer to a licensee for broadcasting, or to sponsor, any radio program, knowing or having reasonable ground for believing that, in connection with a purportedly bona fide contest of intellectual knowledge, intellectual skill, or chance constituting any part of such program, any person has done or is going to do any act or thing referred to in paragraph (1), (2), or (3) of this subsection.

(5) To conspire with any other person or persons to do any act or thing prohibited by paragraph (1), (2), (3), or (4) of this subsection, if one or more of such persons do any act to effect the object of such conspiracy.”

* Note the repeated use of the word “intellectual” — not physical. Therefore, this law does not apply to sports.

The Sports Bribery Act of 1964 which was passed to protect the “integrity” of sports from mafia and gambling interests. It reads: “Whoever carries into effect, attempts to carry into effect, or conspires with any other person to carry into effect any scheme in commerce to influence, in any way, by bribery any sporting contest, with knowledge that the purpose of such scheme is to influence by bribery that contest, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.”

The key word in this law being “bribery.” If a league instructs one of its employees — be it an official, coach or athlete — to influence and/or manipulate an outcome in a certain manner, such action does not break this law.

No one has been arrested for violating the Sports Bribery Act in relation to a professional sporting event — ever.

5.  It is legal for the media to lie to us all. Not just in the realm of sports, but in every aspect of journalism and mass media. Don’t believe me? Read this.

Then go on to realize that the New York Times recently admitted that it — and virtually every major media outlet — allows the government to censor its work. The jaw-dropping article/admission can be found here (the full piece is embedded within the linked article).

If this can occur, do you honestly believe that ESPN/ABC/Disney, CBS, FOX, NBC/Universal and Time Warner (which owns TBS, TNT and Sports Illustrated) report truly and accurately on the professional sports world which they fund?

Four of these five mass media conglomerates give the NFL alone $6 billion a season. Are they then going to turn around and investigation any improprieties within the league that threatens those investments? Especially when they are able to legally lie to their consumers while censoring the work of individuals who may be committed to reporting the truth?

As Karl Taro Greenfeld recent wrote in Businessweek, “In a real sense, ESPN no longer covers sports. It controls sports.”

With all of this being true, what then is preventing a league — or all of the leagues — from fixing the outcome of their own games to maximize profit and revenue which is the very reason why they put on these exhibitions?

The short answer is obvious: Nothing.

Factory Chicken Farmer Comes Forward. Shocking

Factory chicken farmer blows whistle.  Here is a great story about a little guy coming out and speaking about what the big guys are up to.  Look at the horrible conditions in which our Purdue chickens are raised.  They are shocking images of our (OUR) food and it is not hard to begin to understand why we are becoming more and more unhealthy in our lifetime.  You may want to re-think your dinner after seeing this video.

After 22 years of raising factory chicken for Perdue, one brave factory farmer Craig Watts was at his breaking point and did something no one has done before. He invited us, as farm animal welfare advocates, to his farm to film and tell his story.

Who are the global elite? Global elite rules the world.
Global elite rules the world. Who are they? Find out here!

We particularly appreciate the amount of time and energy that went into compiling this list of the capitalist network that controls the world.

The ultra-wealthy elite often hide behind layers and layers of ownership, but the truth is that thanks to interlocking corporate relationships, the elite basically control almost every Fortune 500 corporation.

The amount of power and control that this gives them is hard to describe.

Global elite rules the world

Karen Hudes World Bank Whistle Blower.
Karen Hudes tells us how a global elite rules the world. Watch the videos!

World Bank whistleblower Karen Hudes says this is not a fight about money, but survival of the planet. “We’re dealing with whether we can continue as humanity and have an earth or whether we blow ourselves up. . . . whether we love each other enough to save the world, or we all go to hell in a hand basket,” says Hudes. Join Greg Hunter as he goes One-on-One with World Bank Whistle Blower Karen Hudes.

Michael Snyder over at theeconomiccollapseblog.com has been writing on the subject for many years.

(Michael Snyder)  Karen Hudes is a graduate of Yale Law School and she worked in the legal department of the World Bank for more than 20 years. In fact, when she was fired for blowing the whistle on corruption inside the World Bank, she held the position of Senior Counsel.

She was in a unique position to see exactly how the global elite rules the world, and the information that she is now revealing to the public is absolutely stunning. According to Hudes, the elite uses a very tight core of financial institutions and mega-corporations to dominate the planet.

Karen HudesThe goal is control. They want all of us enslaved to debt, they want all of our governments enslaved to debt, and they want all of our politicians addicted to the huge financial contributions that they funnel into their campaigns. Since the elite also own all of the big media companies, the mainstream media never lets us in on the secret that there is something fundamentally wrong with the way that our system works.

Remember, this is not some “conspiracy theorist” that is saying these things. This is a Yale-educated attorney that worked inside the World Bank for more than two decades. The following summary of her credentials comes directly from her website

Karen Hudes studied law at Yale Law School and economics at the University of Amsterdam. She worked in the US Export Import Bank of the US from 1980-1985 and in the Legal Department of the World Bank from 1986-2007. She established the Non Governmental Organization Committee of the International Law Section of the American Bar Association and the Committee on Multilateralism and the Accountability of International Organizations of the American Branch of the International Law Association.

Global elite rules the world as explored here on our site.
A global network of capitalists control 40% of the world.

Today, Hudes is trying very hard to expose the corrupt financial system that the global elite are using to control the wealth of the world. During an interview with the New American, she discussed how we are willingly allowing this group of elitists to totally dominate the resources of the planet…

A former insider at the World Bank, ex-Senior Counsel Karen Hudes, says the global financial system is dominated by a small group of corrupt, power-hungry figures centered around the privately owned U.S. Federal Reserve. The network has seized control of the media to cover up its crimes, too, she explained. In an interview with The New American, Hudes said that when she tried to blow the whistle on multiple problems at the World Bank, she was fired for her efforts. Now, along with a network of fellow whistleblowers, Hudes is determined to expose and end the corruption. And she is confident of success.

Citing an explosive 2011 Swiss study published in the PLOS ONE journal on the “network of global corporate control,” Hudes pointed out that a small group of entities — mostly financial institutions and especially central banks — exert a massive amount of influence over the international economy from behind the scenes. “What is really going on is that the world’s resources are being dominated by this group,” she explained, adding that the “corrupt power grabbers” have managed to dominate the media as well. “They’re being allowed to do it.”

Previously, I have written about the Swiss study that Hudes mentioned. It was conducted by a team of researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland. They studied the relationships between 37 million companies and investors worldwide, and what they discovered is that there is a “super-entity” of just 147 very tightly knit mega-corporations that controls 40 percent of the entire global economy

When the team further untangled the web of ownership, it found much of it tracked back to a “super-entity” of 147 even more tightly knit companies – all of their ownership was held by other members of the super-entity – that controlled 40 per cent of the total wealth in the network. “In effect, less than 1 per cent of the companies were able to control 40 per cent of the entire network,” says Glattfelder. Most were financial institutions. The top 20 included Barclays Bank, JPMorgan Chase & Co, and The Goldman Sachs Group.

But the global elite don’t just control these mega-corporations. According to Hudes, they also dominate the unelected, unaccountable organizations that control the finances of virtually every nation on the face of the planet. The World Bank, the IMF and central banks such as the Federal Reserve literally control the creation and the flow of money worldwide.

At the apex of this system is the Bank for International Settlements. It is the central bank of central banks, and posted below is a video where you can watch Hudes tell Greg Hunter of USAWatchdog.com the following

“We don’t have to wait for anybody to fire the Fed or Bank for International Settlements . . . some states have already started to recognize silver and gold, the precious metals, as currency”

Most people have never even heard of the Bank for International Settlements, but it is an extremely important organization. In a previous article, I described how this “central bank of the world” is literally immune to the laws of all national governments…

Global elite rules the world!
Bank for International Settlement. Basel Switzerland

An immensely powerful international organization that most people have never even heard of secretly controls the money supply of the entire globe. It is called the Bank for International Settlements, and it is the central bank of central banks. It is located in Basel, Switzerland, but it also has branches in Hong Kong and Mexico City. It is essentially an unelected, unaccountable central bank of the world that has complete immunity from taxation and from national laws. Even Wikipedia admits that “it is not accountable to any single national government.“ The Bank for International Settlements was used to launder money for the Nazis during World War II, but these days the main purpose of the BIS is to guide and direct the centrally-planned global financial system. Today, 58 global central banks belong to the BIS, and it has far more power over how the U.S. economy (or any other economy for that matter) will perform over the course of the next year than any politician does. Every two months, the central bankers of the world gather in Basel for another “Global Economy Meeting”. During those meetings, decisions are made which affect every man, woman and child on the planet, and yet none of us have any say in what goes on. The Bank for International Settlements is an organization that was founded by the global elite and it operates for the benefit of the global elite, and it is intended to be one of the key cornerstones of the emerging one world economic system.

This system did not come into being by accident. In fact, the global elite have been developing this system for a very long time. In a previous article entitled “Who Runs The World? Solid Proof That A Core Group Of Wealthy Elitists Is Pulling The Strings“, I included a quote from Georgetown University history professor Carroll Quigley from a book that he authored all the way back in 1966 in which he discussed the big plans that the elite had for the Bank for International Settlements…

Global elite rules the world. Learn how at our official website.
This system is governed by the central banks and by the Bank for International Settlements, and it systematically transfers the wealth of the world out of our hands and into the hands of the global elite.

[T]he powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world’s central banks which were themselves private corporations.

And that is exactly what we have today.

We have a system of “neo-feudalism” in which all of us and our national governments are enslaved to debt. This system is governed by the central banks and by the Bank for International Settlements, and it systematically transfers the wealth of the world out of our hands and into the hands of the global elite.

But most people have no idea that any of this is happening because the global elite also control what we see, hear and think about. Today, there are just six giant media corporations that control more than 90 percent of the news and entertainment that you watch on your television in the United States.

This is the insidious system that Karen Hudes is seeking to expose. For much more, you can listen to Joyce Riley of the Power Hour interview her for an entire hour right here.

Global elite rules the world

Karen Hudes exposes The World Bank. It is one of the world’s largest financial institutions said to represent 188 nations from around the world. Its stated purpose focuses on investing in the development of third-world nations and lending interest-free loans to middle- and low-income countries.

According to the World Bank, there are two goals that have been set to be achieved by the year 2030. These include decreasing the amount of people living on less than $1.25 a day to less than 3% and fostering the income growth of the bottom 40% of every country.

Are these goals sensible for the World Bank to accomplish? And, more importantly, can they be successfully achieved in the midst of a significant shift in the global currency market?

To help us break down the global financial giant known as the World Bank and how you can protect your finances during this seemingly unstable global market, we are joined by Karen Hudes, who claims to be a former senior councilwoman at the World Bank.

Next News Network is currently investigating to verify that the allegations and testimonies made by Karen Hudes are accurate.

Breast Cancer Foundation promoting cancer causing products

Foundation claims that organic food may be harmful.
This “non-profit” organization’s CEO Nancy Brinker gets paid an annual salary of over $684,000 a year. “…speak out against people who are using loss, fear, and sickness to turn a profit.”

(MassReport.com) Before we start, let me give you a little bit of background information on Susan G. Komen. Komen is an organization that emerged in 1982 who’s mission was to fight breast cancer. In fact, their original name was “The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation”. Since 1982, they have donated over $1 billion dollars to breast cancer awareness, support, and research programs. They’re even responsible for the famous pink ribbon logo you see everywhere during breast cancer awareness month.

But it’s not all glitter glam underneath the surface. Komen has been under fire for many years for their contradictory business moves, such as signing labeling contracts with companies known to produce cancerous and carcinogenic products like PepsiCo. Komen pulls in around $55 million each year from these companies. And though they’re promoting breast cancer awareness, they’re being paid to have their logo on cancerous products. Sounds sensible.

Not to mention that this “non-profit” organization’s CEO Nancy Brinker gets paid an annual salary of over $684,000 a year. Living comfortably there, Nancy?

So the contradictory nature of this organization is very clear. And what’s even clearer is this “non-profit” organization is very much profitable.

Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation claims organic food not safe – promoting cancer causing products

Komen has claimed that eating organic food could actually be worse for you than food riddled with pesticides. Specifically, they say this:

“…consumption of organic food is a controversial issue and high quality human research is lacking in this area. Specifically, claims of higher nutritional value and lower toxic contaminants in organic foods currently have little scientific evidence supporting pronounced benefits. Some studies have shown that organic food has a lower amount of pesticides, but research has not confirmed that lower amounts of pesticides are causally related to preventing certain diseases or conditions.”

While this isn’t entirely false, it’s very misleading. When the actual research that has been done is acknowledged with an “it exists”, then readers and supporters will widely disregard it. There have been several large studies confirming that not only do these vegetables have lower levels of pesticides, but contain more antioxidants and nutrients of a higher quality, including a 2014 study done in the UK.

Scientists Reviewed 343 Studies to see if Organic Food is Better for you. Here’s what they Found Out

Researchers found that organically grown crops contain anywhere from 18-69% more antioxidants and 10-100 times less pesticide residue. When plants aren’t sprayed with synthetic pesticides, they typically produce higher more phenols and polyphenols to protect themselves. These compounds have been found to play a powerful role in boosting the immune system.

Shouldn’t an organization aimed to fight cancer be more aware of these types of things? Perhaps they are aware and they’re just ignoring it? After all, how would they make $55 million from companies producing synthetic products if everybody started eating organic food?

This is what happens when causes become commercialized. The people in the commercial industry are already corrupted. Their goal in the end is profit, and that kind of ego is unacceptable when fighting a just cause, as the cause becomes that much more corruptible. I could never bash somebody for spreading cancer awareness. But I’ll certainly speak out against people who are using loss, fear, and sickness to turn a profit.

More about Susan G Komen Foundations Practices

Several water bottle retailers have partnered with the Komen Foundation.  Single-use plastic water bottles commonly contain BPA, which has been linked to breast cancer tumor growth.  For the 2008 model year, Ford Motor Company built a branded limited edition of 2500 Ford Mustang motorcars with a “Warriors in Pink” package  as part of their long-running association with Komen; an additional 1000 were offered for 2009’s model year.  A longitudinal study found that women employed in the automotive plastics industry are almost five times as likely to develop breast cancer prior to menopause, compared women in a control group.

In April 2010, Komen paired with fast food restaurant chain KFC to offer “Buckets for the Cure,” a promotion in which fried and grilled chicken was sold in pink branded buckets. The collaboration garnered criticism from media outlets, including The Colbert Report  and Bitch magazine,  and raised criticisms about the promotion of unhealthy eating habits and obesity, since obesity contributes to breast cancer.  KFC contributed over $4.2 million to Komen, the largest single contribution in the organization’s history.  The partnership with KFC, which has since ended, allowed Komen “to reach many millions of women that they had been unable to reach before,” said Brinker.

In April 2011, Komen introduced its own perfume brand, “Promise Me”, promoted by Komen CEO Nancy Brinker on the Home Shopping Network, only to encounter opposition due to coumarin, oxybenzone, toluene and galaxolide as potentially harmful ingredients. Komen stated its intention to have the product reformulated but has refused to withdraw existing stocks of the “Promise Me” product from distribution.

In October 2014, Houston-based oil field services company Baker Hughes was reported to have produced 1,000 pink drill bits to raise breast cancer awareness. The land drill bits are used to break up geologic formations in oil patches for hydraulic fracturing.  These ties have been criticized, because of the more than 700 chemicals used in fracking more than one third are endocrine disruptors and at least one quarter increase the risk of cancer.

Keith Ranville | Oak Island Money Pit: Cree Code Breaker

By Brent Raynes:  Keith Ranville of Vancouver, British Columbia, is a Cree Indian who was born in Winnipeg. Keith has brought a new perspective to the legendary Oak Island mystery of Nova Scotia’s Mahone Bay area, and it’s probably about time. I first read about this mystery myself in Stranger Than Science by Frank Edwards back in the late 1960s.

Cree Code Breaker Keith Ranville and the Oak Island Money Pit Mystery

213 years have passed so far and no one has yet to recover the pirate treasure that so many feel is buried beneath the earth there. Over the years, many people have attempted to translate mysterious symbols reportedly copied from two different stones on the island.  Hoping to isolate some vital clue or insight into how to retrieve the treasure that is believed to be buried there.

Keith Ranville says Oak Island Money Pit Flagstone translation points to Birth Island.
Photograph of the Oak Island Flagstone. New translation sheds light on the mystery.

In a statement posted on the Internet two months ago, Keith Ranville was quoted: “I believe these symbols have been incorrectly assumed to stand for something else.

In the First Nations tradition that I’m a part of, we believe symbols should simply be looked at in and of themselves.  Rather than thinking of them as codes that have to be cracked. In the pictograms of Cree Salavics, for example, the images are meant to be descriptive, not abstract.”

Keith Ranville – Oak Island Money Pit Research

Keith noticed the use of triangles from the stone symbols to be a recurrent and possibly a significant theme. “The triangles seemed like they were more emphasized,” he said. “The first line of the symbols were mostly triangles.

I got the idea that this thing was mostly about triangles and so I began to look for triangle clues on the island itself.  There was one triangular clue, a stone triangle, that was found south of this so-called ‘Money Pit.’”

Keith Ranville - Part of the Oak Island Money Pit Mystery - Birch Island.
Birch Island triangle in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada.

He looked on google at aerial photos of the island and he went east of that stone triangle that was there.  Because on the symbols itself there was an arrow that pointed at the right angle of a triangle, the fourth and fifth symbol.  So he went in that direction and looked everywhere there east on the island.

He didn’t see it, so checked on a neighboring island, and sure enough a big triangle popped out at him from Birch Island.  It was a section of the island that had a triangular appearance.

Speaking of triangles, Keith made another discovery. “I found something while doing Internet research that actually talks about the significance of triangles in Micmac language,” he noted. “It actually means something like God and in Egyptian it means ‘exalted one.’

That’s off of petroglyphs of the Micmacs and their writings.  So that really fascinated me too because the Micmac are native to the Mahone Bay area. If anyone is going to know about this Oak Island Money Pit mystery it’s going to be the Micmacs because it’s in their back yard.”

Keith Ranville – Oak Island Money Pit Research
What is contained in the Oak Island Money Pit? See this photo. Keith Ranville.
Check out the cross section of the Oak Island Money Pit.

Three young men discovered this vertical shaft entrance back in 1795.   They believed it led to a pirate treasure.  Countless man hours have been spent, and, over the years, it has exceeded ten million dollars in cost.  Just to try and get to the proverbial bottom of what has become known as the “Money Pit.”  Not to mention the tragic loss of human life. So far the lives of six men have been lost.

In 1803, the Onslow Company, which had become the first in a long line of treasure recovery operations, discovered at the 90 foot level a flat stone with a strange inscription on it. Reportedly weighing about 175 pounds, measuring two feet long and 15 inches wide, a translation attempt was made by one James Leitchi, a professor of languages at Dalhousie University.  He thought it perhaps read, “forty feet below two million pounds are buried.”

“The thing with Oak Island Money Pit is that it has always been a controversy,” Keith explained to me. “There was so much lost evidence and there were like no significant well documented archaeological finds.  It seemed like one thing was bungled up after another.” Yes, unfortunately the inscription stone eventually became lost.

We’re told that it became used as a hearthstone in two homes on Oak Island.  Then it was placed in a Halifax store front where it went missing around 1900 after the building was torn down. However, the two line and forty-character text was reportedly copied and thus preserved by a Mahone Bay schoolteacher who had hoped that he could translate it.

Meanwhile, back in the 1930’s, the fragment of another stone, with similar symbols on it, turned up at Oak Island’s Smith Cove, though it also had a symbol that was different. “It could be Greek,” Keith explained. “I’m not too sure if it is. But four dots and a plus in the middle in Greek means ‘underwater doors.’ I think that around the 100 foot level, the area where the treasure stone was found, they should not have gone any farther.” Reportedly the mine shaft goes down nearly 200 feet now.

“There’s supposed to be another dig going on this summer,” Keith added. “They figure that there’s like a Spanish treasure down there.” So far, fragments of a gold chain have been found, and a camera lowered down into the pit in 1971 reportedly recorded images of wooden chests and human remains.

“It seems more like a spiritual quest than a treasure hunting quest,” Keith confided. “For me to come up with all of these possible and plausible solutions to Oak Island intrigues a lot of people as to how this native guy, out of nowhere, comes to Oak Island, to Nova Scotia, and people are willing to write articles and letters of support. I’ve been on the radio numerous times.”

In the summer of 2005, Keith traveled to Nova Scotia and spent a year looking into the Oak Island mystery. “I think what most people are intrigued by is how I got there because anyone can jump on a plane and go to Nova Scotia and then come back,” Keith told me. “I got there pretty much on my wits. I hitchhiked most of the way and took a bus a little bit of the way.

I rested out in Winnipeg first, for a week or so, and then I continued on my journey. I guess Winnipeg was like the halfway mark. I went from city to city. I talked to many people. I talked to the Freemasons and they’re pretty intrigued with what I was saying about Oak Island. For some reason, I felt a need to talk to them. I have no desire to become a Freemason myself.”

Keith recalled when he was in high school he was going to do a paper on the Oak Island Money Pit mystery.  He didn’t get to hand it in because there was a death in the family. But he remembered the original concept he had perceived on translating these symbols back then but didn’t follow up on it until years later, until he was in my mid-thirties.”

“I believe it was a universal written language. I feel that it was something made to be understood no matter what culture you are from or what language you speak. It wasn’t something made for just one creed of person or a certain group of people to understand. It was meant for anyone.” “I believe that there may be a Mayan connection to this, for some reason,” Keith added. “Just by the way that the stones of this triangle were lined up. It just gave me that feeling that this was Mayan, and especially with the symbols themselves.”

Keith also gets insights sometimes in his dreams.
